Firearm Safety Is Non-Negotiable
Safety isn't a suggestion—it's the foundation of everything we teach. Whether you're on the range, at home, in your vehicle, or carrying concealed, these four fundamental rules apply without exception. Violations of safety protocol will result in immediate removal from training. Responsible firearm handling isn't optional; it's mandatory.
01
Treat Every Firearm as Loaded
Always assume a firearm is loaded until you personally verify otherwise. Even after checking, continue treating it as if it were loaded. Complacency kills—never trust assumptions about a firearm's condition.
02
Never Point at Anything You're Not Willing to Destroy
Muzzle discipline is absolute. Your firearm's direction is your responsibility at all times. "Accidental" discharge is preventable—control where your muzzle points, always.
03
Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Ready to Fire
Your finger belongs on the frame, not the trigger, until you've made the conscious decision to shoot. Trigger discipline prevents negligent discharges and demonstrates control under pressure.
04
Know Your Target and What's Beyond It
You are legally and morally responsible for every round that leaves your firearm. Bullets don't stop on command. Identify your target, assess what's behind it, and ensure you can fire safely before pressing the trigger.

These rules apply everywhere—on the range, at home, and while carrying. They are not negotiable. They are not situational. They form the bedrock of responsible firearm ownership and use. Violate them at your peril—and the peril of everyone around you.
Firearms Laws & Training FAQs
Is firearm ownership legal in Nevada?
Yes. Nevada law permits law-abiding citizens to own firearms, subject to federal and state restrictions. Certain individuals—such as convicted felons, those with domestic violence convictions, and individuals under restraining orders—are prohibited from possessing firearms. Nevada does not require permits for purchasing rifles or shotguns, though handgun purchases from licensed dealers require federal background checks.
Do I need a permit to carry concealed in Nevada?
Yes. Nevada requires a valid concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit to carry a concealed firearm in public. Open carry is legal in most areas without a permit, but concealed carry without a valid permit is a criminal offense. Obtaining a CCW requires completing state-approved training and applying through your county sheriff's office.
Where is carrying a firearm prohibited in Nevada?
Even with a valid CCW permit, firearms are prohibited in certain locations including: schools and childcare facilities, government buildings with metal detectors, secure areas of airports, federal buildings, private property where prohibited by the owner, and any location where signage forbids firearms. Violating these restrictions can result in criminal charges.
When is deadly force legally justified in Nevada?
Nevada law permits the use of deadly force only when a reasonable person would believe it necessary to prevent imminent death or substantial bodily harm to themselves or others. You cannot use deadly force to protect property alone. The law also requires that you not be the initial aggressor and, in some circumstances, requires retreat if safely possible. Legal justification is complex—training covers these nuances in detail.
Is firearms training required by law?
Training is required for specific purposes. Armed security guards must complete PILB-approved training and requalify every six months. CCW permit applicants must complete state-approved firearms training demonstrating competency and legal knowledge. While Nevada doesn't mandate training for basic firearm ownership, responsible gun owners recognize that competence and legal understanding aren't optional—they're essential.
What happens if I use my firearm in self-defense?
Even justified use of force triggers serious legal scrutiny. Expect law enforcement investigation, potential arrest, criminal and civil proceedings, and significant legal expenses. Training emphasizes avoidance and de-escalation precisely because the legal, financial, and emotional aftermath of a defensive shooting is severe—even when legally justified. Know the law, understand your responsibilities, and recognize that pulling the trigger changes everything.
Real-World Readiness: Beyond the Basics
Qualifying on a static range is one thing. Making sound decisions under stress in real-world conditions is entirely different. Our training doesn't end with marksmanship fundamentals—we emphasize situational awareness, threat assessment, legal decision-making, and the psychological realities of armed confrontation. Most defensive situations are prevented through awareness and avoidance, not gunfire. We teach you to think first, not shoot first.
Situational Awareness
Recognize potential threats before they escalate. Most violent encounters provide warning signs—learn to read them and position yourself advantageously or exit entirely.
Threat Assessment
Not every confrontation justifies deadly force. Develop the judgment to distinguish imminent threats from posturing, and understand the legal and moral weight of your response.
De-Escalation Skills
Verbal de-escalation, creating distance, and tactical retreat can resolve situations without violence. Your firearm is the last resort, not the first response.
Aftermath Preparation
Understand what happens after a defensive shooting—police response, legal investigation, potential prosecution. Know your rights, when to speak, and when to remain silent.
We train you to avoid fights, not win them. Carrying a firearm doesn't make you safer—it makes you legally and morally responsible for its use. Our students understand that confidence comes from competence, and competence includes knowing when not to shoot. Real-world readiness means going home safe without ever drawing your weapon.
